Random Pictures from our Trip to Seattle

This is our latest trip to Seattle.  We were here at Christmas time when we got caught up in the great snowstorm.   It was so unusual to have so much snow here and to have it last.  Many of the steep streets were closed off and driving, and walking, were very difficult.  It’s quite a different scene now with Spring fast approaching.  We flew from Dublin to Amsterdam and then Amsterdam to Seattle.  We got up at 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning March 31 in Dublin in order to get to the airport in time to check in for our 6 a.m. flight.  We left our car at Bewley’s Hotel in Sandyford and then took the Airport Blue Bus to arrive in good time for check-in at the airport.  The KLM/Aer Lingus flight to Amsterdam was only about an hour and then we transferred to KLM/Northwest flight which was a different kettle of fish – an 11 hour flight.  We didn’t have seats beside each other, rather one seat behind the other in the center of the plane.  We were very envious of the side by side seats on either side of the plane.  That was a really long flight but I think that extremely early departure from our house made it extra long.  The saving thing was that we had individual screens and we were able to watch the map and view the stats.  I usually read on flights but I ended up watching 3 films – Doubt with Meryl Streep, Working Girl with Melanie Griffith and Sigourney Weaver, and The Turning Point with Shirley Maclaine and Ann Bancroft.  It was hard to believe that it was still Tuesday when we arrived in Seattle – and only Tuesday noontime with the 8 hour time difference from Dublin.  That was a very long 32 hour Tuesday!!

Now we were here in Seattle and the baby had not arrived yet.  He was due April 2nd.  So we had a few days to explore some of our favourite places.

The school pick-up –  dogs and cats and pot-bellied pigs have to wait outside the school grounds.

More pictures to follow – the baby took his time in making his appearance.
